Mountaineering: Volcanoes of Kamchatka
Tolbachik (3682 m; 3085 m)
Tolbachik is one of the higher volcanoes in central Kamchatka. It actually has two peaks: Ostry Tolbachik (3682 m) and the crater rim Plosky Tolbachik (3085 m). The area around Tolbachik is covered by a huge ashfield and there are a series of younger ash cones which have been very active in the 1970s.
